This show was absolutely BRILLIANT!!  I thoroughly enjoyed its cleverness and craziness. Bravo to the cast and crew. I will be bribing my husband to see this play. Yes, it is a little morbid but who cares it's all in good fun and what fun it was indeed!!
- SandraD, Outside of Los Angeles, CA
My face hurt from laughing so much.
- Sandy Kaye, Hidden Hills Ca
An unforgettable night of theatre in every sense of the word.
- Alessandro, Beverly Hills
Shocking, hilarious, thrillingly acted, and perfectly staged for the Taper stage. I was completely enamored with every second, and have been telling everyone I know to see it immediately.
- Lane Williamson, Los Angeles, CA
McDonagh's comedic brilliance combined with superb performances all around made for one of the best theatrical experiences I've had. It was so good, I think ya'll helped me get a girlfriend last night. Cheers.
- Monty C., LA
I am a season ticket holder and bought a single ticket as well. This is simply the best production that I have seen at the Taper in the last ten years. The best.
- Ted Heyck, Los Angeles
It was provocative, stimulating entertainment with great style, thrilling to watch, and very funny. The satire was right to the point and even the most vivid examples of the absurdities of the Irish conflict never fell into vulgarity. A real class act with a stellar cast. This is the kind of challenging theatre that we hope never disappears. I'm thinking of another example, The Goat, one of the best plays we've ever seen. Keep up the great work. We applaud you endlessly.
- A patron., West Covina, California
Outstanding.  Those who are offended can fuck off.  It takes balls to put on such a graphic play...a marvelous example of how powerful live theatre can be.
- Scott Edwards, Sherman Oaks
Martin McDonough did it again!
- anonymous, Long Beach
When it comes to politics my son is politically apathetic, however, the play presented the issue of war in a way we could discuss it openly....[it] held his attention, and forced him to really pay attention to the subject matter.
- anonymous, Whittier, California
I must admit that the evening was one of 'endurance' to get to the end....the violence was so horrific that it was really a hard play to sit through.
- Lamar Kerley, Bakersfield
Absolutely horribly delightful.
- Lisa Tollman, Westlake Village
I absolutely LOVED this production; it was one of the best shows I've seen at the Mark Taper Forum! As a borderline 'jaded' L.A. theatre-goer, I'm rarely genuinely surprised by a show. "The Lieutenant of Inishmore" enlightened me, disgusted me, and made me laugh harder than I have in a very long time.  Best of all, the show's shock value wasn't used to compensate for a weak script or cast...Chris Pine's tour-de-force performance was a refreshing example of true talent above simple star wattage to sell seats.  Bravo!
- Anonymous, Los Angeles
I do not choose graphic violence in books, movies, etc and was worried that I would not be able to physically tolerate the violence in this play as described in the information mailed out before the play, but I did. And the message of the play and the comedy made that possible, although I did have to close my eyes a few times.
- Anonymous, Long Beach
The entire family enjoyed the play!
- Ellis Kaufman, Calabasas, CA
I felt the production pushed the boundaries of traditional theater.
- Christina, Los Angeles
I LOVED it.  One of the best shows I've seen in quite some time….Truly like Monty Python wrote a play about Irish terrorists and Quentin Tarantino directed it.
- Jessica, Los Angeles
The stagecraft was particularly impressive on this show. Kudos to the techies and design staff.
- Patricia Scarborough, Riverside
Of the 4 in my group, I am by far the most squeamish and I was dreading the show after reading about it in advance.  In fact, I almost did not go.  Of the 4 of us, I liked it best and I liked the play very, very much.  It is a profound play.

I suppose one could balk at all the "fecking," screaming, torture, blood-splattering, murdering, dead animals and corpses... but I'd be lying if I didn't admit that I laughed like mad and had a great time.
- Susan Morgenstern, Culver City
Clearly it is not everyone's cup of Guinness.
- Garner Simmons, Woodland Hills, CA
I can't recommend it to 90% of the people I know. All in all, I liked this play but I can't say I enjoyed it!
- JDT, Los Angeles, CA
The writing and the production were top notch...Overall, a bloody great show.
- FMIII, Pasadena
My wife...was not very enthusiastic about going. SHE LOVED IT! Couldn't stop laughing.
- EFO, Pasadena
A "balls out" production.
- PDR, L.A. CA
I love this play and am so happy that the Center Theatre Group took on such controversial material...I go to the theatre to be challenged, surprised and moved - thanks for taking chances.
- CP, Santa Monica
If someone is offended by a show like this, they do not belong in the theatre, nor should they watch the news.
- J Simpson, Redondo Beach
I found the images and actions on stage to be very disturbing...at the same time as I was laughing out loud
- Initials JJW, Palos Verdes Estates
This is the type of theatre that I subscribe to the Taper to see. It's edgy, makes you "stretch" out of your comfort zone, and think with different perspectives...
- Julia Voce, Seal Beach
I've rarely laughed so hard at the theatre, nor been so embarrassed to find it all so funny. I love it and would definitely recommend it to anyone with a strong enough stomach to handle it.
- jarpdca, Palm Desert, CA
This was by far the best production I've seen at the Mark Taper.
Peta, Rolling Hills Estates
perhaps an "X rating" should have been advertised...
- Leslie Bale, Los Angeles County
Laughed my ass off and loved...that you were willing to push the envelope.
- Anonymous, LA
Martin McDonagh is a brilliant writer.
- John, Los Angeles
I suppose one could balk at all the "fecking," screaming, torture, blood-splattering, murdering, dead animals and corpses... but I'd be lying if I didn't admit that I laughed like mad and had a great time.
- Susan Morgenstern, Culver City
A brilliant satire...L.A., and the Taper, can be proud.
- Herman R. Menck, Marina Del Rey
I am very sqeamish. I had to look away..But, I stayed until the end and laughed.
- Anonymous, Pasadena
I would love to see more like this one.
- Eva, Los Angeles
Bloody hysterical! Brilliant!
- Noa G., Sherman Oak, CA
WOW...so much to discuss around our dinner table!
- MaggieO, Lake Arrowhead, CA
I thought the play was excellent - edgy, funny, graphic, well acted. The futility of random acts of violence was well demonstrated.
- erri g, encino, ca
The show was technically flawless. I love this play. Thank you for putting it up.
- Anonymous, Redondo Beach
Laughed at the total absurdity; loved every minute.
- Suzanne Prince, Marina del Rey
I'm sure it will upset some, but it had a message about the absurdities of life, one that we need to hear.
- John Smith, Echo Park
proud to see a production this ballsy in my city. This is exactly the kinds of plays I'd love to see from you guys. Bravo!
- Max Dionne, Los Angeles
wildly extravagantly thought provoking fun
- LP, Van Nuys, CA
fun to watch...certainly a standalone experience.
- Dani Crum, Redondo Beach
It's a flawless production. I was laughing and cringing the whole time!
- Yvonne Zima, Hollywood
the production made my head spin. Good Job!
- Karen P. Morris, Echo Park
the reactions of the audience are almost as interesting as the play itself.
- G.S., West Hollywood
I always enjoy a play that depicts something I never want to experience.
- CM, Newport Beach
This by far one of the best theatrical productions I have ever been to. I feel that for theatre to stay with us, it should affect us in some form or another.
- JP, North Hollywood
I was horrified ...and delighted
- Bonnie Vitti, Burbank
a bit disturbing but we have strong stomachs.
- screen name, montebello
A gleefully macabre and delightfully relevant play!
- Anonymous, Eagle Rock
theatre needs a production like "Lieutenant" to shake things up
- Kit Fugrad, Winchester, CA
Truly outrageous and funny! Not for the feint of heart. The elderly couple I was seated next to did not appreciate it - I felt a bit sorry for them.
- anonymous, arcadia ca
Provocative and hilarious. One of the best theater experiences I've had in awhile.
- David Newman, Burbank
should be seen by as many people as possible.
- RH, Woodland Hills, Ca.
If you like irreverant comedies that take chances by injecting humor into sensitive topics, then this play is for you.
Louis T., Los Angeles
I MUST SAY THAT I "LAUGHED MY A-- OFF". THANK YOU FOR THIS PRODUCTION.
- WEE THOMAS, VALLEY VILLAGE
It was like a horror movie!! I couldn't watch!!! I came out of the theater & threw up! How could you possibly call this a play!!!
- JMS, Van Nuys
Who is the intended audience?  Terrorists?  The rest of us already know that violence to pursue a political end is futile.
- Anonymous, Pasadena
I don't laugh at misery.  It was not funny--torture is not comedy  to me.
- anonymous, Altadena
I found the play to be boring, silly, not funny and obviously unnecessarily gory.
- BB, beverly hills
We found it disturbing in a way that is not enriching, and would not choose to see a performance like that again.  We went home and watched a Pixar movie to get the disturbing images out of our mind in order to sleep.  I don't see that as a good result of seeing a play.  I go to be entertained, stimulated, and moved.  None of that happened for me.
- World History Teacher in Los Angeles, Glendale
This is one of the worst plays I've seen in my 35+ years of Music Center attendance.  It may have been intended to be a farce but I did not find it in the least bit amusing.
- JMBL, Lake Sherwood, CA
I thought the production was awful, it was gross and very difficult to understand the language.
- full name, Los Angeles, CA
IT WAS VERY DEPRESSING AND HARD TO SIT THROUGH OVER 2 HOURS OF SENSELESS VIOLENCE.  I LEFT FEELING REALLY DEPRESSED.
- ANONY MOUS, LOS ANGELES
I couldn't wait until it was over!
- Marilyn, Huntington Beach, CA
too grim for me.
- anonymous, woodland hills
the play as a whole left me cold...[it] never seemed to move beyond the gratuitous.
- anonymous, Mar Vista
It was just over the top---If I wasn't with others I would have left before the first act was over
- anonymous, Orange county
literally made me sick.
- initials or anonymous, marina del rey
I think the playwright is totally overrated. Its the kind of theatre, that makes people feel like they are seeing something really important and intellectual. A snob hit. I can't say its the worst play you've done, but its up there with the worst.
- GR, Studio City, CA
unacceptable
- Sandy Roberts, West Los Angeles
An insulting waste of my time...mindless trash...Sensationalism, torture, and bad language do not make up for a badly written script with a mindless plot.
- G.G.R., Beverly Hills
An insult to intelligence and sensibility without redeeming values...If I wanted Grand Guignol i would go there.
- A subscriber for mare than 43 years, LA
My wife and I absolutely hated this production. You wasted a great opportunity to do something really worthwhile. What a disappointment!!! And, it was not funny!!!
- Sherwyn Drucker & Judith Desjardins, Santa Monica, CA
I do not find, nor do I want to find, humor in such sadness. This was probably the worst thing I have ever seen on a stage.
- Barbara Gideon,
What's most disappointing is the attendance -- best we've seen at the Taper, maybe ever! Hope this doesn't mean we're in for more stuff just like this.
- Dick Rubin, Pasadena
I had my head covered during the most gruesome anticipated events….they did not have to hit you over the head with that much violence.
- Artartist, Huntington Beach
The political and moral ourtrage of all that transpired over the years in Ireland was not and is not funny.
- Initials only Thank you., Northridge
As an owner of two cats I found [it]...unsettling.
- RR, Orange County
it was terible
- E S, L. A.
I really couldn't see a reason for producing this play.
- Anonymous, Los Angeles
I sincerely thought I was going to be sick for a minute or two.
- Lissie Quishenberry
Very stupid play not worth seeing.
- VH, Chatsworth
Someone behind me shouted "Boooo" at one point. I turned and thanked her, though I normally would not condone such outbursts.
- Anonymous, Malibu
[I] could not find many redeaming features
- Anonymous, encino
I did turn away from looking at it.
- anonymous, Mar Vista
It was disgusting.
- LFW, Los Angeles
i was disturbed by the "laughing" audience...i did not think it was "funny"
- just initials J L,
Too gross!
I left.
- Full Name, Pasadena
I appreciate the extreme perspective...It was simply too much for me.
