At Getting Started, you'll explore different roles and pathways within the business of the arts and theatre that engage these artistic senses while utilizing your administrative capacity. Register today for an empowering day of workshops and conversations with industry professionals, connecting with your peers, and envisioning a fulfilling future in the arts.

Plan your day and learn more about the industry professionals who’ll be joining us from Center Theatre Group, Boston Court Pasadena, Wallis Center for Performing Arts, BroadStage, and other incredible Los Angeles arts organizations.

9:15am Check-In Begins

10am Let’s Get Started Welcome Session | Gather together to hear from the program team on what to expect and how to best prepare for the day.

11am Explore Arts Administration Round 1: Select one of the following disciplines:

  • Social Media with Bobby Martinez
  • Community Programs with Estela Garcia and Jesus A. Reyes
  • Finance & Accounting with Peter Banachowski
  • Operations and Facilities with Jasmine Braff

12pm Explore Arts Administration Round 2: Select one of the following disciplines:

  • General Management with Katie Bruner Soff
  • Box Office & Ticketing Services with Hannah Trujillo
  • Front of House with Christine Cox

1pm Lunch & Resource Fair: Join us for lunch and mingle with fellow attendees and Resource Fair representatives from local colleges and universities to learn about their undergraduate and graduate programs and arts organizations for internship and open positions.

2pm Explore Arts Administration Round 3: Select one of the following disciplines:

  • Communications with John Johnson
  • Marketing with Brittany A. Gash
  • Human Resources with Savannah L. Barker
  • Fundraising with Crystal Diaz

3pm Closing Session | End the day with us as we welcome a special guest speaker.

Registration

This is a free event, but registration is required. We are prioritizing currently enrolled Community College students, but all currently enrolled undergraduate students and emerging professionals are welcome to register. Upon registration, you will receive an automated receipt of confirmation. If your registration is accepted, you will receive a separate email in January with more information about your participation.

Who should register? If you are a current undergraduate student with dual interests in the arts and another area – you should absolutely join us! While this event is open to people from all majors, we are especially focused on those that overlap with careers in theatre, which include:
